The members of the Bergen-Paulus Hook Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) would like to welcome you to their website and thank you for visiting.

The Bergen-Paulus Hook Chapter NSDAR is the merger of two DAR chapters. The Bergen Chapter NSDAR, named for the Village of Bergen, was organized March 9, 1906, and the organizing regent was Mrs. Green. The Paulus Hook Chapter NSDAR, named in honor of the trading post which was established at Paulus Hook in 1633, was organized April 20, 1899, and the organizing regent was Mrs. Bedle. The Bergen and the Paulus Hook Chapters NSDAR merged on October 24, 1951, and Mrs. Nelson was the regent.

Our members are actively involved in projects that support the DAR through historic preservation, patriotism, and education, as well as other DAR programs on the local, state, and national levels. These include collecting canceled stamps for veterans, labels and other items for Tamassee DAR School, and the Christopher Columbus and American History Essay Contests for students, along with Bronze Junior ROTC Medal, and many other programs.

More than sixteen videos on the DAR are featured on YouTube, with plans to add more as they become available.

If you have a patriot of the American Revolution in your ancestry, we would love to have you visit, and to join us. If you believe you are descended from a Revolutionary War patriot, but are not sure, please know that visitors to our meetings are always welcome, and we will help you trace your ancestor. It is important to note that the term “patriot” includes not only those who served in the Continental Army, Navy, or a militia, but also those men and women who provided funds, food, livestock, shelter, medical attention, or in any way furthered the cause of American independence.

Our chapter will be happy to provide assistance to you in proving your descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, and in establishing your eligibility for DAR membership. We can also provide you with genealogical advice if you are just beginning your family search. For assistance please contact our chapter regent.
